Very
little maintenance is required once the blocks
have been laid. It is only necessary to sweep
occasionally to remove the dust and debris that
may have accumulated. If any algae is noticed
to the building up on them the use of a pressure
washer will remove it safely. A general were weedkiller
can be used once or twice a year to deter the
growth of mosses and weeds in the sand joints.
The four most popular patterns used in block paving
is that of herringbone, stretcher bond, basket
weave and diagonal herringbone. Designs are appearing
such as cobble stone providing an increasing variety
of styles shapes, colours and sizes. The cobble
stone blocks at present are available in three
sizes from 40 mm by 40 mm to 100 mm by 100 mm.
It is common practice to surrounded jobs such
as a driveway with a soldier course around the
edges, laid to contrast with the driveways general
colour and design.
